Common Alarms, Inspection and Troubleshooting Methods for Anges Industrial Chillers

1. High Pressure Alarm

Fault Phenomenon: The unit triggers high-pressure protection and stops running; the high-pressure alarm code is displayed on the control panel.
Common Causes:
  • Poor heat dissipation of the condenser
  • Excessive refrigerant filling
  • Blocked or scaled condenser
  • Abnormal cooling water flow (water-cooled chiller)
  • High ambient temperature (air-cooled chiller)
Inspection & Solutions:
  • Clean condenser fins and dust thoroughly to ensure unobstructed heat dissipation.
  • Check whether the cooling fan or cooling tower operates normally.
  • Confirm cooling water pump and water flow are normal for water-cooled models.
  • Check and recover excessive refrigerant if needed.
  • Restart the unit after the pressure returns to normal.

2. Low Pressure Alarm

Fault Phenomenon: The system suction pressure is too low, and the unit triggers low-pressure shutdown protection.
Common Causes:
  • Insufficient refrigerant or refrigerant leakage
  • Blocked filter drier or expansion valve
  • Too low chilled water flow
  • Low ambient temperature during operation
Inspection & Solutions:
  • Check the whole pipeline for refrigerant leakage and repair leaks.
  • Replace blocked filter drier and clean the expansion valve.
  • Check the chilled water pump, pipeline valve and filter to ensure normal water flow.
  • Supplement refrigerant according to the standard after confirming no leakage.

3. Chilled Water Flow Alarm

Fault Phenomenon: The system detects no water flow or insufficient water flow, and the unit fails to start or stops automatically.
Common Causes:
  • Water pump not started or pump failure
  • Water pipeline valve not fully opened
  • Pipeline blockage or filter clogging
  • Air trapped inside the water circuit
  • Damaged water flow switch
Inspection & Solutions:
  • Start the chilled water pump and check whether the pump runs normally.
  • Fully open all water circuit valves.
  • Clean the water filter and remove pipeline dirt and blockages.
  • Exhaust air from the water pipeline completely.
  • Check and replace the flow switch if it is faulty.

4. Overload / Overcurrent Alarm (Compressor Overload)

Fault Phenomenon: Compressor current is too high, overload protection is triggered, and the unit shuts down.
Common Causes:
  • Unstable power supply voltage or phase loss
  • Compressor aging or mechanical friction failure
  • Excessive refrigerant load
  • Poor ventilation and high operating temperature
Inspection & Solutions:
  • Check the power supply voltage, phase sequence and wiring condition.
  • Check whether the compressor has abnormal noise and overheating.
  • Adjust refrigerant volume to the standard range.
  • Improve on-site ventilation environment.
  • Restart the unit after cooling down and eliminating faults.

5. Water Temperature Sensor Failure Alarm

Fault Phenomenon: The control panel displays sensor error, and the temperature data is abnormal or missing.
Common Causes:
  • Loose or fallen off sensor wiring
  • Sensor aging and damage
  • Short circuit or open circuit of signal line
Inspection & Solutions:
  • Check and re-fix the sensor wiring plug.
  • Inspect the signal line for damage and short circuit.
  • Replace the temperature sensor if it fails.

6. High Water Temperature Alarm

Fault Phenomenon: The chilled water temperature cannot drop and exceeds the set alarm value.
Common Causes:
  • Excessive ambient load
  • Insufficient refrigeration capacity of the unit
  • Dirty and blocked condenser/evaporator
  • Refrigerant shortage
Inspection & Solutions:
  • Clean condenser and evaporator regularly to improve heat exchange efficiency.
  • Check whether the refrigerant is sufficient.
  • Confirm the unit model matches the on-site cooling load.
  • Reduce instantaneous equipment load properly.

Safety Notice

Before any inspection and maintenance, please cut off the main power supply of the chiller to avoid electric shock and mechanical injury. If the fault cannot be eliminated after simple troubleshooting, please contact professional maintenance personnel for processing.
